Historian

Miraflor D. Maphis (aka Bebe) was born in Liloan, Sounthern Leyte, Philippines, where her family lived sharing a home with three brothers and two sisters.  Her father is a retired policeman and her mother a homemaker, and both have become involved in small retail businesses. Her parents still live in Liloan, but her brothers and sisters live in various other locations, having grown up to lead their own lives.

Miraflor went to Saint Ignatious Loyola Academy for High School and attended college in Tacloban, Leyte, at Leyte College. Subsequently she taught preschool children for two years before meeting her husband and moving to the United States.

Following her marriage in the US she completed her CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) Certificate in California, as well as her MA (Medical Assistant) Certification.  She worked in private homes and facilities caring for the elderly, and for a private locked psychiatric facility in California.

Miraflor and her husband moved to Gallatin, TN, in 2012 where she completed a training course in Pharmacy Technology. She worked since that time as a Certified Medical Assistant for a private Pediatrician in Hendersonville, TN.  She loves her work and finds the challenge of dealing with children a pleasure.  The pediatrician for whom she works is also Filipina and they share common interests and origins. She is also a Marketing Director for Helping Hands Worldwide Services, Inc.

Miraflor enjoys cooking, organizing private events, working with community charities, and hopes to assist with the development of other community charities similar to FAAT.  She and along with her husband enjoys dancing. She hopes to complete her RN one day but enjoys her current employmen.  She attends church regularly and has a deep and meaningful faith which gives her life meaning and optimism.

She has provided significant support to FAAT since she moved in TN; at first as a guest, then as a volunteer and helper, and now as the Historian.  She hopes to continue to assist FAAT in the future in various capacities and make a significant contribution.
